A United States court has jailed a Nigerian man, Olayinka Ilumsa Sunmola, for 27 years for an international romance scam he perpetrated from 2007 to 2014.

Sunmola who is Lagos-born, was the ringleader of a love scam organisation based in South Africa. The court also ordered him to repay $1.7m.
